Available Positions
The Arc of the Central Chesapeake Region offers many full time and part-time positions. Positions include House Managers, Community Support Staff, Awake Overnight Staff, Weekend Relief Staff, Roommates, Employment Advisors, Substitutes, Family Support and Respite Care Staff.
Direct Support Staff provide assistance to people with developmental disabilities and their families. A Direct Support Staff’s main role is to assist individuals in becoming valued, active and respected members of their communities. Responsibilities include, but not are limited to assisting each individual in promoting social and emotional growth, assisting with personal care, assisting in the development of Individual Futures Plans, facilitating community participation, assisting the individual in finding active employment, advocating for the rights of people with disabilities and providing leadership to other staff.
Each applicant should have an interest in working with individuals with developmental disabilities and empowering them to make choices, establish meaningful relationships, and becoming active members of their community. Qualifications may vary; some positions require experience. For most positions a high school diploma/equivalent and valid driver’s license is required. In some cases Awake Overnight Staff may be hired even without a driver’s license.
