Website The Arc Central Chesapeake Region
The Arc Central Chesapeake Region (The Arc) supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to live, work, and connect with their community.
When people give, they change lives, families, and communities. Giving is personal—it’s about trust, connection, and stewardship. As the Development Officer, you will be a key member of the development team responsible for securing financial resources for The Arc. You will engage in and be responsible for all aspects of the donor development cycle, including identifying, researching, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding development opportunities and relationships. The Development Officer frequently works with businesses and civic organizations to secure their giving through annual sponsorships and major gifts. It will be your responsibility to build and scale a meaningful portfolio of donors giving under $5,000 annually.
You will be asked to apply a “moves management” approach to the portfolio with a custom cultivation strategy for each donor. Moving prospects along the donor pipeline so they are ready to receive an appropriate ask based on their intent and interest, and stewarding donors to deepen their partnership with The Arc by offering site visits, facility tours, presentations, introductions, and more are all essential functions of this role. In partnership with the Director of Development, you will be developing strategies and implementing activities to solicit financial gifts, in-kind donations, sponsorships, annual pledges, and annual program and capital needs.
The ideal candidate for this position will be able to seek out and create meaningful connections with potential donors while also capturing relevant data, updating constituent records, and adhering to the AFP’s standards of ethics. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of five years of development experience with three years of experience in individual giving with specific direct gift “ask” experience. However, a bachelor’s degree is preferred and a master’s degree and/or a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification is a plus. While the position is focused on the Eastern Shore, the Development Officer will work regionally. This position includes an award-winning total rewards (benefits) package and paid professional development opportunities.
