Other Ways to Give
Donate a Vehicle
Do you have an old car, boat, or motorcycle that you need to get rid of? Donating a vehicle is an incredible opportunity to make an impact in your community. The Arc can take it off your hands and turn it into cash to fund our critical work.
Fill out this form online or call 1-877-ARC-CAR-0. Make sure to choose The Arc Central Chesapeake Region as your local chapter. We’ll arrange for a convenient time to pick up or tow your donated vehicle and take care of all necessary paperwork.
Support the Family Fund
There are many effective resources, therapies, and services that make an incredible difference in the quality of life for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. However, many of these are not covered by insurance and are out of reach financially for the families who need access to them most.
In 2017, The Arc founded the Family Fund to provide financial grants for families to access these critical therapies, equipment, and educational and life-enriching opportunities for their children with disabilities.
Since its founding, the Family Fund has granted more than $200,000 to children throughout the community. This program is 100% funded by generous donors who understand that families don’t always have the financial means to access the resources they need the most. You can read the stories of past Family Fund awardees here.
Support The Family Fund Today
Thanks to you, we’ve seen kids learn to talk, walk, become more independent, catch up in school, and create happy memories they never would have been able to otherwise.
Every contribution, no matter the size, directly benefits a child in your community. Grants are administered to families in February annually.

Holiday Giving
For more than twenty years, The Arc Central Chesapeake Region has partnered with the community to provide gifts, toys, and food support to families with children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Every year, Holiday Giving supports more than 300 children throughout the community. What makes this program unique is The Arc’s commitment to meeting each family and child where they are.
Every child has a unique wish list that reflects their interests, needs, and abilities. The Arc then partners with local businesses and community members, like you, to provide items from each child’s list. In addition, every family receives a grocery gift card that helps them put together a holiday meal.
Holiday Giving focuses on removing the barriers for families during the holiday season so they can focus on what’s most important—their family.
How can I help?
There are two ways you can participate in holiday giving:
- Adopt and Shop: Whether you’re doing this on your own or organizing a group effort at work, The Arc’s team will work with you to identify what gifts will make the biggest impact on your child/family. You do the shopping, and The Arc’s team will take care of distributing them.
- Donate Cash: Consider adopting a child or family and letting The Arc’s team take care of the shopping. On average, we spend $150 per child, which enables us to purchase 4-5 items from their wish list.
